Vor
genau 120 Jahren wurde die erste Diamantschleiferei
in ldar-Oberstein errichtet.
Dadurch wurde die seit vielen Generationen
bestehende Edelsteinindustrie komplettiert.
Fortan waren damit alle Berufszweqe und
Techniken dieser
einzigartigen Industrie anzutreffen.
Eine
zuerst langsame, dann doch stete
Entwicklung begann mit all ihren Höhen und Tiefen,
besonders beeinflusst durch
zwei Weltkriege.
Neben dem Schleifen der Schmuckdiamanten
etablierte sich
auch ein weiterer sehr bedeutsamer
Zweig dieser Industrie:
Die Herstellung von Diamantwerkzeugen
für
den industriellen
Bedarf.
Die Sonderausstellung "Diamant und Idar-Oberstein"
beschreibt und veranschaulicht diese
interessante und Wechselvolle Geschichte
anhand von Dokumenten, Bildern, Maschinen,
Diamantwerkzeugen und vor Allem auch
mit einzigartigen Ausstellungsstücken
vom Rohdiamanten bis zu den feinsten
geschliffenen Steinen in allen Formen
und Farben, Kunstobjekten und großartigen
Schmuckstücken.
Zu dieser Sonderausstellung erscheint
ein Buch mit dem Titel "Diamant
und Idar-Oberstein.

himself in ldar Oberstein. At this day
the gemstone industry, counting already
several generations, had been completed.
From now on, all the professions and
techniques of this unique industry were
present.
A constant development began, starting
slowly in the beginning but gaining momentum,
with all the ups and downs, especially
under the influence of the two world
wars.
Next to the cutting of jewellery
diamonds, another branch of the industry
arrived: the production of diamond
tools for industrial use.
The exhibition "Diamond and Idar-Oberstein" describes
and shows this interesting and
varied history with documents, pictures,
machines, diamond tools and of course
expertly polished gemstones of all forms
and sizes, pieces of art and extraordinary

y a 120 ans, le premier polisseur de
diamants s'installait a ldar Oberstein.
Ainsi, I'industrie de pierres précieuses
vieille de plusiers générations
a été complétée.
A partir de ce moment, toutes les professions
et techniques de cette industrie unique étaient
presentes.
Un développement continuel commenca,
lentement au début mais avec Une
importance croissante, avec ses hauts
et ses bas, spécialement influencé par
les deux guerres mondiales.
En plus du polissage de diamants pour
bijoux, une autre branche de I'industrie
s'installa : la production des outils
diamantés destinés à une
utilisation industrielle.
L'exposition spéciale "Diamant
et Idar-Oberstein" décrit
et présente cette historie variée
et intéressante a I'aide de documents,
d'images, de machines, d'outils diamantés
et surtout avec des pierres finement
polies dans toutes les
formes et toutes les couleurs ainsi que
des objets d'art et des bijoux extraordinaires.
A I'occasion de cette exposition spéciale,
un livre ayant pour titre "Diamant
et Idar-Oberstein" a été publié.
